After breast cancer, adopt good food hygiene!

By Fériel Berraies

Cancer is the second leading cause of death (after cardiovascular disease) in France according to the National Institute of Health and Medical Research. Each year, billions are spent on conventional cancer treatments. This shows the extent of this disease in our daily lives. Besides the Oncological Protocols, which should never be abandoned, it is also important to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Nutrition, herbs and natural plant extracts can accompany cancer compliance protocols. Managing the aftercare is important: There is a real lifestyle to adopt, whether it is curative or preventive.

Overall, you have to remain vigilant (follow the advice of your oncologist doctor) but also, take care of your body and mind (use, for example, Sophrology which is well framed in this area), and know how to eat (treat nutrition) and do a physical activity that takes into account your ecology.

On reminder : favor gentle cooking for all your foods (no microwaves or trays) choose healthy non-industrial or processed foods. Choose quality proteins, and favor crucifers and antioxidants among your plants. Avoid dairy products derived from cow’s milk.

It is true that after the therapy, the protocols, and after the remission, one can feel “abandoned” and ask many questions, especially about nutrition and healthy living. In most cases, doctors and oncologists do little or nothing to prepare you for the aftermath. So for all those who have gone through this “hut” and who are on the road to reconstruction, mental and physical, here are a few little tips on vital hygiene.

The goal here is to keep cancer cells asleep (at best). What you eat and how you live can make a difference.

But also and above all, how you apprehend after … and what psychological state you will nourish on a daily basis.

All these parameters are important in resilience and they remain important for the maintenance of remission. So first watchword, Cauet method “stay zen and positive” and reclaim your body and your mind, with more perspective, detachment (yes, it is a daily work) and above all, do yourself good and resume confidence in your body and in life!

Here are some tips from my holistic approach to health.

Food

Let’s start with the bans, we must ban industrial sugars because they are toxic, cancer cells revel in it and it is actually bad for everyone!

No cigarettes, no alcohol, no sodas, instead, choose fresh juices and smoothies and drink drink lots of water, either in infusion or mineral water, because you have to feed your cells every days !

No red meat, consume organic poultry, eggs, avoid dairy products, fried foods, opt for first cold pressing oils. Lots of fruits and vegetables.

If you are greedy

Take natural sugar which you will find in fruits and slow sugars (wholegrain pasta and rice). Do not forget the concept of pleasure, you can make deviations but everything is in measure and balance. It must be said in fact that by a nutritious healthy diet, we can ward off pathogens and activate the immune system to fight against cancer cells (as a preventive and curative).

On the side of fresh vegetables

Broccoli

Broccoli contains a compound called linamarase, which, when it enters cancer cells, breaks down into cyanide and can therefore kill tumor cells. Pleuretic and detox, broccoli is ideal for keeping your figure.

Beet

This root vegetable is full of nutritious properties. Beets preserve heart health. It contains 266 mg of potassium per 100 g, and antioxidants.

Potassium helps lower blood pressure, antioxidants protect from free radicals involved in cardiovascular disease. Not to mention the fibers that help lower cholesterol and triglycerides. Beets help prevent cancer and also maintain your shape.

Garlic

Put it in all your sauces and your food, it is good for health and in addition it gives flavor to our famous Italian sauces and dishes from the South.

It is well known that garlic has certain antibiotic properties which can be used to get rid of various infectious agents such as bacteria, yeast and fungi. The presence of sulfur-containing alkyl compounds makes it a very good anti-cancer agent. (This by causing malignant cells to undergo natural cell death, also known as apoptosis). Garlic also plays an important role in activating immune system cells against cancer cells. It is always better to eat raw garlic than eat it in a cooked form.

Green beans or legumes

Researchers have found that women who eat legumes at least twice a week have a reduced risk of developing breast cancer compared to those who eat less (e.g. lentils)

Mushrooms

Portobello, cremini, buttons and shiitake mushrooms all have anti-cancer properties. Mushrooms actually contain more antioxidants than pumpkins, carrots and tomatoes. This is because they are rich in ergothionein and selenium, two antioxidants that boost the immune system. Mushrooms also contain beta-glucans, found mostly in shiitake and maitake, which strengthen the immune system and can prevent cancer. As an omelet or to accompany your roasts.

Spinach

In salads or pies, they are rich in beta-carotene and lutein, two powerful antioxidants. Researchers at the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences found that women who ate spinach more than twice a week had a lower risk of developing breast cancer.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that can help prevent the development of breast cancer and help stop the growth of cancer cells. Lycopene can also stop the development of other cancer cells in other organs like the lungs or the endometrium. In juice, it’s great too.

Parsley

Add a few pinches of chopped fresh parsley to your dishes daily.

Kale, sweet potatoes and squash

Make yourself soups, it’s time and it’s good for you!

Eating foods rich in carotenoids has been linked to a reduced risk of breast cancer recurring. Carotenoids are natural pigments found in yellow and orange foods (such as carrots, sweet potatoes and squash) and dark green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach and chard. The goal is to keep cancer cells asleep, and what you eat can make a difference. ” Among the cruciferous vegetables: broccoli, kale, cabbage and cauliflower (great if you are on a diet, because it is also detox)

Olive oil

You like it on your salads your roasts your fish and meats, it is found in all Mediterranean diets. Olive oil is known for its health benefits, it also reduces the risk of cancer. According to recent studies, hydroxytyrosol, a major component of olive oil, can help prevent breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

On the fruit side

Grenade

There are some in the tropical fruit section of your supermarket. Otherwise you find them in herbalism.

Research has shown that pomegranate can help destroy cancer cells without affecting healthy cells. Pomegranate contains polyphenols, a form of ellagic acid known for its antioxidant properties. It helps prevent the formation of cancer cells in the breast area.

Grape

The grape contains a compound called proanthocyanidin which reduces the production of estrogen in the body. This results in an effective treatment for breast cancer, as shown by some clinical trials carried out on several patients with breast cancer. The study found that grape extract affects cancerous breast tumors. Grapeseed extract helps inhibit aromatase, which helps prevent cancer from forming. Grape seed extract helps prevent the growth and spread of cancer cells.

Blueberries or Blueberries

Fresh blueberries are a great source of antioxidants, including chlorogenic acid that fights cancer, as well as the anthocyanin pigments that give them their color. The antioxidant action of a food is measured in ORAC- units which means “capacity to absorb oxygen radicals” and blueberries have a higher rate than any fruit or vegetable.

Plums and peaches

Be aware that they contain two types of polyphenols (antioxidants) that can help kill breast cancer cells, while leaving healthy cells intact.

Some interesting readings:

Natural plants in herbal medicine

Dandelion

The whole plant would facilitate the absorption of iron, whether it is supplied by food or by supplements, which would make it effective in treating certain types of anemia. It may even be able to help treat cancer, as a tumor necrosis factor (TNF-alpha) stimulant. At least that’s what some studies have already indicated: the Japanese have developed a freeze-dried dandelion root extract intended to treat tumors, and the Chinese, encouraged by the results of this type of therapy on animals, are trying to treat breast cancer with dandelion extracts.

Wheat grass

It is a health beneficial herb known for its cancer benefits. when taken in juice or raw form, it has an effect against the growth of cancer cells as demonstrated by the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. The herb actually helps strengthen the immune system and flush out toxins from the body.

Green tea

We all know the famous green tea with mint, and know ladies that it is antioxidant (do not abuse too much anyway, because it drops ferritin and therefore risk of anemia) and favor organic green tea of course …

Prepare herbal green tea by boiling a certain amount of tea leaves in a glass of water until it is reduced to half. This has anti-inflammatory properties and is very effective against the formation of breast cancer as well as other cancers.

Lignans

Lignans are found in sunflower seeds, cashews, strawberries, flax seeds and peanuts. These compounds prevent estrogen-dependent tumors by slowing their growth rate and progression. One of these foods can be included in your daily diet. Don’t forget them as an aperitif…

Linen

Flax could help better prevent certain cancers. It contains lignans which convert to elements similar to estrogen, but with reduced activity. By occupying the estrogen receptors, they decrease the effects of the real, more potent estrogens. The researchers therefore looked at the role that flax could play in the prevention of hormone-dependent cancers such as those of the breast or the colon. Sprinkle on hot or cold cereal. Put it in yogurt or granola.

Ginger

Recent studies have highlighted the role that could play ginger to protect against certain cancers (breast, colon, ovary). Its effectiveness is due to its content of antioxidants, which would eliminate toxins. So do not hesitate to put it in your dishes as in couscous semolina, in the Maghreb we do not hesitate!

Burdock

Burdock root is rich in potassium nitrate and inulin, which has anti-cancer and detoxifying properties. It also contains polyenes and polyines, with antibacterial properties, many alcoholic acids (diuretics), plant hormones. Finally, it contains arctigenin, with rich anti-tumor properties. In decoction or in herbal tea. Very beneficial especially after chemotherapy or radiotherapy of breast cancer.

Turmeric

It is important to consume calcium, especially in the pre-menopausal period. Calcium can reduce the risk of breast cancer according to several different studies. Foods rich in calcium are orange juice, almonds and green vegetables. Do not hesitate to put your centrifuge to work!

Propolis

It is a natural mixture produced by bees from a few elements including the substances they collect from plants and trees. This truly therapeutic substance not only protects against intruders, but it can also repel and treat all kinds of unwanted health problems. Researchers from the University of Southern California and the National University of Singapore found that postmenopausal women who ate an average of 45 g to 85 g of fish or shellfish each day were 26 percent less likely to develop breast cancer in the five years of the study than those who ate less seafood. In foil is delicious.

To boost your immune system, a little complementary work to do
